Sirius Class (2313)
At the time of its completion, the Sirius class was among the largest classified starship types. With respect to armament and sensor equipment the Sirius class shows comparable performance as the Excelsior class, which is of approximately equal size. However, the shuttlebay of the Sirius class is relatively small. Construction of this class was alleviated by using the same saucer section as the Lancelot class. The crew complement is smaller as of the Excelsior, and more room and convenience is available. Many construction principles of the Sirius class were also employed for the huge Ambassador class. Starfleet decided to build the latter starships in a large number, so the originally scheduled series production of the Sirius class was not realized. The last ships were taken out of service in 2370 and are currently stored in surplus depots. It is possible that they will be reactivated to fight the Dominion.
