Star Trek Beverages Ranked
10Synthale
Synthale or other flavors of synthehol are everywhere in the 24th century, yet no one really likes them. The taste of alcohol with none of the consequences apparently still isn't considered the real deal. I would personally try synthehol. Then again, when I'm off-duty and I don't need to pilot a shuttle, I'd prefer other beverages from this list.
9Root beer
Quark describes root beer as "so bubbly and cloying, and happy" and Garak adds, "...just like the Federation." The drink has earned an according reputation of being soothing and clandestinely addictive. I never tried root beer (at least not knowingly, as it probably wouldn't be legal to sell it as "beer" in the EU). I wonder whether I would like the sweet stuff.
8Saurian brandy
A favorite among Starfleet officers who need something stronger than diplomacy. Saurian Brandy is the drink of choice for long party nights or awkward receptions in dress uniforms. It's exotic, potent and probably flammable. We rarely see Saurians, but they sure know how to brew.
7Bloodwine
This beverage is as quintessentially Klingon as a bat'leth. Bloodwine flows freely at nearly every occasion, but it's most famously raised in honor of victorious battles - which, let's be honest, Klingons seem to win by default. It's not for the faint of heart. But I have seen humans drinking it, so I'd give it a shot.
6"It's green"
A drink with no name, just a color, is served by Scotty to incapacitate an unwelcome guest in TOS: "By Any Other Name". Data offers a green liquor from Guinan's stock to Scotty in TNG: "Relics", which Picard identifies as Aldebaran whiskey and which may or may not be the same beverage. There is still a mystery about the green original drink, which I hope will persist.
5Tea, Earl Grey, hot
The replicator may churn out any beverage you want, but Picard remains loyal to a simple and traditional cup of Earl Grey - hot, of course. Later in life, he switches to the decaf version. I keep a stash of Earl Grey myself, though I'm not much of a tea drinker, except on those occasions when I raise a cup in honor of my favorite captain.
4Romulan ale
Sometimes this blue liquor is illegal, sometimes it's not. Romulan ale has quite a history in Star Trek ever since McCoy gave Kirk a bottle of it, hinting at its "medicinal purposes". I would love to try it myself, hopefully with less of a hangover than Worf's in "Nemesis".
3Kanar
The signature drink of Cardassians comes in many varieties, most of which are syrupy. We don't really know more about it, except that it seems to be some sort of social glue that binds the Cardassians together. As Damar expresses it: "I wouldn't trust a Cardassian that didn't enjoy a glass of kanar every once in a while."
2Château Picard
Sophisticated, elegant and actually from France. It is more than just a wine - it's bottled legacy. Château Picard is notable because it connects our captain to his roots, so much that he retires to his vineyard at one point in his life, although we may not have expected that from the famed explorer.
1Raktajino
This is the undisputed champion of 24th century beverages, for which it doesn't even have to be alcoholic. Raktajino is a Klingon coffee that fuels half of Deep Space 9. It is the essential ingredient for the station's officers to remain fit for duty, for shifts that seemingly never end. It is the beverage that I would most definitely want to try in real life.
