Confederation Timeline Ships

ConfederationConfederation Enemies

Confederation

The Confederation of Earth as seen in Picard season 2 is a fascistic empire with humans as the ruling class that allegedly evolved due to a point of divergence in the year 2024. Despite an extremely different history over the course of more than 300 years, its technology is nearly identical to that of the late 24th century Federation. Yet, the Confederation timeline should not be confused with the Mirror Universe, whose history dates back much further. For the sake of simplicity, I assume that all Confederation ship classes have the same name and size as their Federation counterparts, unless otherwise established on screen.

Defense drone

General description

This could be an unmanned spacecraft of the Confederation.

Known drones

No name given

Annotations

In PIC: "Penance", the file of Colonel Rios as seen on a display in President Hansen's office depicts a number of defense drones, obviously stock footage from SHO: "Children of Mars" or PIC. "Maps and Legends". There is no clue what these spacecraft are used for in the Confederation and how they are related to Rios.

Kaplan F17

General description

In this timeline around the year 2400, La Sirena is a standard type of a patrol frigate used by the Confederation. It is equipped with a cloaking device.

Known ships

CSS Ahuizotl NCC-93159
CSS Cetus NCC-93130
CSS Charybdis NCC-93148
CSS Hydra NCC-93135
CSS Kappa NCC-93154
CSS La Sirena NCC-93131
CSS Makara NCC-93142
CSS Scylla NCC-93165
CSS Selkie NCC-93147
CSS Zin Kibaru NCC-93161

Annotations

  1. The Confederation timeline La Sirena first appears in PIC: "Penance", together with several other ships of the class.
  2. Visually, the design differs from the Federation version only in small details, such as the different (now military gray camouflage) hull colors. The Confederation Kaplan F17 serves as a patrol frigate, rather than a freighter (although it makes no sense that this rather large vessel would be operated by just one pilot). It is also equipped with a cloaking device that the ship of the original universe doesn't have (used to hide La Sirena when parked next to the château in 2024).
  3. All ships of the class are named for mythical sea creatures. Names and registries are from social media posts by David Blass that are not available any longer. I assume that all models in the battle scene against the Vulcans in "Penance" were actually labeled, or were at least assigned these names behind the scenes.

Large shuttle

General description

This is a large shuttlecraft in service of the Confederation around 2400.

Known shuttles

No name given

Annotations

One shuttle of this type can be seen in PIC: "Penance" when Picard arrives at the Confederation Headquarters. It is a re-use of the type designed by John Eaves and previously seen at Utopia Planitia in the flashback in "Maps and Legends".

Nova

General description

The Nova class is a small combat ship type of the Confederation.
Gallery: Various Starfleet Ships

Known ships

CSS Dougherty NCC-75489
CSS Quinn NCC-74536

Annotations

  1. Two Nova classes as known from Federation Starfleet appear as Confederation ships in PIC. "Assimilation", pursuing La Sirena. One is destroyed by a photon torpedo fired by Seven of Nine, the other one is eliminated after the Borg Queen has taken control of La Sirena.
  2. The design seen on PIC corresponds to the version seen in VOY: "Equinox", not to the possible upgrade from VOY: "Endgame". The deflector color was changed to red for the Confederation ships.
  3. I assume for the sake of simplicity that the class name is the same in the Confederation. The two individual ships in the PIC episode, on the other hand, are named for men that have a questionable reputation even in the "good" Federation timeline. Names and registries as revealed by Dave Blass.

Known ships

CSS Leyton NCC-73827

Annotations

  1. One Steamrunner class as known from Federation Starfleet appears as a Confederation ship in PIC. "Assimilation", pursuing La Sirena. The ship is destroyed with a photon torpedo after the Borg Queen has taken control of La Sirena.
  2. The deflector color was changed to red for the Confederation ship.
  3. I assume for the sake of simplicity that the class name is the same in the Confederation. The individual ship in the PIC episode, on the other hand, is named for a man that has a questionable reputation even in the "good" Federation timeline. Name and registry as posted in social media by Dave Blass.

World Razer type

General description

The World Razer is a massive warship in the fleet of the Confederation of the 24th century.

Known ships

CSS World Razer

Annotations

  1. The World Razer only appears on a painting in General Picard's château in PIC: "Penance", replacing the depiction of the Galaxy-class Enterprise-D. I assume the ship is just as authentic as the rest of the scenario, although Q clearly manipulated many facts.
  2. The ship painting was created based on a concept by Sean Tourangeau. It is the only known Confederation ship that differs considerably from Federation design.
  3. The ship's basic lines are quite obviously based on the Galaxy class. But the corresponding hull portions are not really congruent, at least not on the conceptual side view. 680m is a coarse estimation of the ship's length, presupposing this really is the "mean sister" of the Galaxy class.

Class specifications

Length: ca. 680m

Confederation Enemies

Borg cube

General description

This is a Borg cube in the Confederation timeline.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

In PIC: "Penance", the file of Colonel Rios as seen on a display in President Hansen's office depicts a Borg ship, obviously stock footage of the "Artifact" (cube type 3) from PIC season 1. There is no further information on what happened to the Borg cube and how Rios was involved.

Romulan Bird-of-Prey (upgraded)

General description

This is a Romulan warship design in the Confederation timeline.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

In PIC: "Penance", the file of Colonel Rios as seen on a display in President Hansen's office depicts a Romulan ship in combat with La Sirena and another vessel, obviously stock footage from PIC: "Absolute Candor". We may surmise that Colonel Rios of the Confederation was in a similar situation as Captain Rios.

Vulcan ship

General description

This is a small warp-capable ship of Vulcan origin in the 24th century of the Confederation timeline. Its warp engine is ring-shaped, as it is typical of several Vulcan designs.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

  1. The Vulcan ships appear in PIC: "Penance", where they are engaged in a battle with Kaplan F17 frigates of the Confederation.
  2. The design previously appeared as a Vulcan cruiser in Star Trek Discovery, most prominently in "Lethe".
