NCV: Starfleet timeship, 29th century

31st century pod 1

General description

This shuttlepod is much bigger inside than outside, which is accomplished using an unknown technology. It is equipped with temporal displacement drive, a stealth device and organic circuitry, but has no visible power or propulsion systems. Further specifications are unknown.

Known shuttles

No name given

Annotations

  1. The term "temporal displacement drive" suggests that this pod itself is capable of traveling through time, which appears to be quite a common feature of future vessels.
  2. Even if we disregard the many scorches, the structure and hull of the pod with its extendable panels look very old-fashioned, as if they wouldn't belong into the 31st century, but rather into the 22nd century. It may have been purposely laid out to look like that (especially since it's larger on the inside anyway), but in that case it should rather imitate the look of an actual 22nd century vessel, which it obviously doesn't. It is probably operated with cloak anyway. In addition, the pod type 2 (below) has largely, but not exactly the same features, pointing to a design lineage. Considering that the time pod from the 26th century (Rasmussen) has a very unusual look, and the two designs of the 29th century (Aeon and Wells) are still reminiscent of 24th century ships, there is no plausible design evolution of future ships.

Class specifications

Time frame: 31st century
Length: approx. 5.5m (outside)

31st century pod 2

General description

Nothing is known about this design, except that it looks similar and should be from the same time as type 1.

Known shuttles

No name given

Annotations

Archer and T'Pol spot the vessel on Daniels's display device, but T'Pol remarks that this is not the one they are looking for (the one in the launch bay, type 1). The dorsal shapes of the two pods are different, according to T'Pol.

Aeon type

General description

The Aeon is a Federation timeship from the 29th century of the size of a shuttlecraft; its class name is unknown. The vessel is equipped with hyper-impulse drive.

Known shuttles

USS Aeon

Annotations

According to the official Star Trek site, the ship has the prefix UTS for "United Time Ship", but more probably it is USS, considering the USS Relativity (below). The ship seems to operate independently. Therefore, it is listed rather here than on the shuttles page.

Crew complement: 1

Enterprise-J type

General description

Nothing is known about this Federation ship type that may be in service around 2550.

Known ships

USS Enterprise NCC-1701-J

Annotations

  1. In ENT: "Azati Prime", Daniels abducts Archer to the 26th century, where the captain finds himself on the Enterprise-J. It is not explicitly confirmed in the episode, but we may assume that the ship is not anachronistic but actually belongs into the 26th century. We can never see anything of the Enterprise-J except for an oblique top view on a viewscreen. This scarce screen evidence doesn't really give away the size of the ship, but it appears to be huge, at least 1 kilometer long.
  2. For a "group photo" in the Ships of the Line 2005 calendar Doug Drexler combined the Enterprise-J saucer with a secondary hull of a concept ship named "Altair class". He named the new design "Congo class". It should not be confused with the canon Enterprise-J.
  3. Doug Drexler tentatively named the class of ships the "Universe class".

Time pod

General description

This time pod is in use in the 26th century.
Article: Redresses of the Nenebek

Known shuttles

No name given

Annotations

Strictly speaking, this pod from TNG: "A Matter of Time" doesn't have to be a Federation design, but it can be only implicitly assumed from statements in the episode. The full-scale mock-up seen in the episode is a redress of the Nenebek, covered with reflective metallic segments. Since it bears no resemblance to anything used by the Federation in the 24th century, it could be alien as well.

Class specifications

Time frame: 26th century
Length: 3.5m

Unknown future ship I

General description

Nothing is known about this Federation ship type that may be in service around 2550.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

The ship type took part in the Battle of Procyon V (ENT: "Azati Prime"). It is the model of the Dauntless that was used for the scene. There is no known Federation ship design like the Dauntless. It would be far-fetched to conclude that the Federation actually built much the same ship we have seen in VOY: "Hope and Fear" (Arturis's creation was completely unfamiliar to the crew in that episode), much less that they took the data that Voyager may have been able to gather to actually reconstruct the alien ship.

Unknown future ship II

General description

Nothing is known about this Federation ship type that may be in service around 2550.

Known ships

Annotations

The ship type took part in the Battle of Procyon V (ENT: "Azati Prime"). It is the model of the Prometheus that was used for the scene. We can never know, the class may still be in service after 180 years. But most likely it was supposed to be just a generic future vessel.

The ship type took part in the Battle of Procyon V (ENT: "Azati Prime"). It is the model of the Nova that was used for the scene. We can never know, the class may still be in service after 180 years. But most likely it was supposed to be just a generic future vessel.

Annotations

The ship type took part in the Battle of Procyon V (ENT: "Azati Prime"). It is the model of the Vor'cha that was used for the scene. The Klingons were mentioned to be part of the Federation at that time. We can never know, the class may still be in service after more than 180 years. But most likely it was supposed to be just a generic future vessel of Klingon design, opposite to the K't'inga that served as an "old" vessel in "Unexpected".

Time frame: 26th century

Wells

General description

This Federation timeship type from the 29th century features a temporal transporter and is shielded against changes in the timeline.

Known ships

USS Relativity NCV-474439-G

Annotations

The ship appeared in VOY: "Relativity". The class is obviously named for H.G. Wells, author of The Time Machine.

Class specifications

Time frame: 29th century
Length: 193m
Deck count: 9
