Space-Dwelling Lifeforms

Note Only ship-like lifeforms or conscious vessels are included, as it would be pointless in a starship database to list the complete zoo of space-dwelling and energy entities.

Edo "God"

Vessel
General description
The entity oversees and protects the civilization of the Edo on Rubicun III. The Edo refer to it as their "god". The entity is transdimensional and has the ability to appear at multiple places at the same time. It may be a living being.
Known ships
No name given
  Annotations
The Edo "God" was encountered in TNG: "Justice". The design will reappear as Lysian central command.
Class specifications
None available

Emergent Lifeform

Emergent lifeform
General description
This supposedly intelligent lifeform was created as an evolutionary leap of the computer of the Enterprise NCC-1701-D. It has an organic structure and was powered/fed with vertions during its creation.
Known probes
No name given
  Annotations
We don't know what has become of this lifeform (TNG: "Emergence").
Class specifications
Diameter: approx. 1m

Farpoint Lifeform

Farpoint lifeform
General description
One living ship of this type was captured by the Bandi of Deneb IV and converted to a planetary base ("Farpoint Station") they offered to the Federation. Another ship appeared in the orbit and attacked the planet.
Known ships
No name given
  Annotations
Nothing particular is known about the two living ships that appeared in TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint". It is not certain whether the Farpoint beings are usually manned with a crew, although they seem to have been developed/evolved for that purpose. They were not given a name.
Class specifications
None available

Gomtuu

Gomtuu type
General description
Gomtuu is an extremely powerful living ship that has lost its crew. It is the last survivor of a presumed fleet of such ships. Gomtuu is capable of creating a massive shockwave that destroys nearby vessels, of generating a shield that prevents scanning its interior, and of tossing away another ship at warp speed.
Known ships
Gomtuu
  Annotations
Gomtuu showed up in TNG: "Tin Man" where Tan Elbrum established a telepathic link with the vessel and decided to stay aboard.
Class specifications
None available

Laas

Laas
General description
The shapeshifter named Laas apparently has the ability to morph into a small organic-looking starship.
Known ships
No name given
  Annotations
O'Brien and Odo detect the starship in DS9: "Chimera", only to notice that it's gone in the very same instant that Laas penetrates the runabout's hull. So it is safe to infer that Laas himself is the ship, as unlikely it seems that a Changeling may go to warp. Not unlike the space-dwelling creatures in TNG: "Galaxy's Child" and VOY: "Elogium" (that are missing in this database because they are deemed "natural") the Laas-ship has soft tentacles for no apparent reason. It is unknown whether Laas mimicks an actually existing space-dwelling lifeform or whether he designed the vessel himself that he wanted to become.
Class specifications
None available

V'ger

V'ger
General description
V'ger is a massive conscious space vehicle that was constructed around the space probe Voyager VI, possibly by a civilization of living machines on the other side of the galaxy.
Known probes
V'ger
  Annotations
The cloud surrounding V'ger in TMP was said to be over 82 astronomic units in diameter. It is obvious that the probe inside must be many orders of magnitude smaller, otherwise it would have pushed quite a few planets out of orbit. The Director's Edition DVD corrected that to more realistic 2 AU. We didn't see the probe in its entirety in the theater version, but on the Director's Edition.
Class specifications
No specs available
